From Sketch to Stage: Custom Pants, Creative Trust, and Seeing My Work on the Runway
Share
Some pieces come together quickly. Others carry stories.
Recently, I had the honor of designing and making a custom pair of pants for a close friend of mine who is part of the GRAMMY Academy. This wasn’t just a commission—it was a collaboration rooted in trust, creativity, and mutual respect for the craft.
When I design for someone who truly understands art, intention matters. We talked about movement, presence, and how clothing should support the person wearing it—not overpower them. The pants were built to move easily, hold structure, and feel powerful without trying too hard. Every seam, choice of fabric, and fit decision was made with the understanding that these pants would exist in rooms where excellence is expected.
That’s one of my favorite parts of designing: knowing that something I made with my hands will travel into spaces I may never physically enter—but my work does.
Seeing My Designs on the Runway
That same energy carries into my upcoming runway appearance.
On February 21, my designs will be featured in the Annual “Resilience” Black History Month Fashion and Hair Show, presented by Black Pearl Entertainment. This show is about more than fashion—it’s about history, endurance, beauty, and showing up fully as yourself.
To see my work on the runway, surrounded by other creatives, designers, hairstylists, and artists who are all honoring Black resilience, feels deeply aligned with why I started designing in the first place. My pieces are about identity, confidence, and telling our stories without explanation.
Whether it’s a custom pair of pants for a Grammy-affiliated creative or garments walking the runway, my work lives at the intersection of function, culture, and self-expression.
If you’re in Denver, I’d love for you to experience it in person and celebrate with us.
